GREG O’BRIEN, LEED AP, Senior Vice President
Grubb & Ellis Company – Atlanta, GA

With more than 25 years of commercial real estate experience as a landlord agent, tenant broker, development principal and investor, Greg O’Brien offers a high level of experience and a well rounded perspective that enables him to work effectively in multiple real estate arenas.

In the late 1980's, Greg was involved in the very first wave of the corporate outsourcing of multi-market lease transactions. After eight years of representing corporate clients such as AT&T, Digital Equipment, Equifax, Frito-Lay and IBM, O'Brien joined ADEVCO Corporation and proceeded to identify and help secure over 2,000,000 square feet of office building development and redevelopment projects, primarily build-to-suit call center facilities in labor-advantaged markets.

Since being designated a LEED Accredited Professional by the USGBC in 2004, Greg has embraced sustainability initiatives related to commercial real estate, including being a catalyst for the Intellicenter office development program which delivered 150,000 SF, LEED Core & Shell office buildings in eight major markets. Greg was also a co-founder of green building consulting company Sustainable Options, which was a pioneer in the LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance analysis and implementation.

In late 2010, Greg joined Grubb & Ellis Company where he is actively involved in the Clean Energy Practice Group, while integrating sustainability metrics into corporate real estate services. Greg was Co-Chairman of the Economics of Sustainability committee for ULI-Atlanta and spearheaded a very successful one-day seminar titled Sustainable Property Investing: Value Beyond Cost Savings.

Greg has spoken to scores of trade associations and real estate groups on green buildings and sustainable real estate practices. Greg maintains active relationships with ULI, CoreNet, NAIOP, IFMA, BOMA and the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors.

Mr. O'Brien graduated from the University of Richmond's Robins School of Business Administration in 1981, where he was actively involved in the golf, swimming and water polo programs.
