Good news... This forum was been set up to allow productive discussions before, during and after Realcomm 09. Social media was in its early days in CRE then but, Chris Saah, Moderator of the Social Media panel in 2001 thought it was time to have an ongoing conversation. You are all welcome to join the conversation, even if you have to join us remotely here.

CRE Social Media

Track: Web 3.0 for Commercial RE

June 14, 2011 1:00 pm - 75 minutes - Session Room 1

Speakers

For the past few years, we have focused on defining social media and ways to utilize this new phenomenon. Today, Facebook with over 600M 600 million users is redefining the Internet. JP Morgan raised $1.2 billion for the next generation of social media companies like Groupon. While social media can present opportunities, one needs to be realistic about expectations. Anyone involved in social media for CRE will not want to miss this session.

209 notes:

We'll start with a conversation about past, current, and future role of Web 2.0 in our companies IT strategies. We'd like to know what's on your mind, what you have tried or implemented. If you all let us know your questions, as well as your organization and personal pain points, we'll combine and address them. If you'd like you can also ask others as you see fit by sharing this link www.creopoint.com/profile/Realcomm.

The term "Web 2.0" refers to a perceived second generation of Web development and design that aims to facilitate communication, secure information sharing, interoperability, and collaboration on the Internet. There is no doubt that sites such as FaceBook, Twitter, and MySpace have made their way into daily life, but even though sites such as LinkedIn exist for working professionals, has Web 2.0 really made its way into the day-to-day business environment?

Moderator: Chris Saah, CIO, Transwestern
Speaker: JC Goldenstein, Founder, CREOPoint.com
Speaker: Joe Rich, CIO, Tishman Speyer
Speaker: David Stanford, Executive Director, RealFoundations

If you'd like, simply add your question (s) and organization/personal pain points to the comment wall below, we'll try to address how Web 2.0 can help you and your peers.

I am looking forward to this session in Chicago and to hearing not only the different perspectives each speaker brings but also the audience interaction. As well as the major impacts highlighted above, I beleive Web 2.0 will really start to pave the way for true product designers ( as opposed to software designer/developers) to impact postive change to the end user experience in working with commercial real estate technology solutions.
