Create buzz and develop your relationships

It was a title or a role, or a department. In any case, the listing administrator or brokerage assistant performed marketing, listing, signage and many other broker support and distribution functions. Do they still exist and if so, should we organize their contact data? It would truly be to all of our advantage to do so, or is that function obsolete? With today's day of social media and instant communication, it would be awesome to be able to communicate with all of the companies and disseminate information with a push of a button through the administrators, if they do still exist. Or not?

If we do not have an actual "body" doing this work, many of us in small to medium firms do it all and in those cases, we might have an alternate email address, say -- marketing@mydomain.com or listings@mydomain.com, or leasing@mydomain.com. So in lieu of an actual department or person, we channel our marketing to a separate email account as those addresses represent our "Marketing" hat. If you wish to distribute communication to a certain group or respond to emails or inquiries on behalf of your firm, these email addresses are a great tool and they act as a filter to all of our day to day corporate email. Also, it is a constant email address that lives on with your firm or property. As people come and go, that email address is simply redirected to the appropriate person in charge of marketing or responding to inquiries.

The question is how is this being done? We are looking for feedback because maybe there is a need to create a separate list, or way to also permit firms to list their "Brokerage Marketing" identity as well. For instance, you can send a message to the entire firm and ask that "Marketing" person to distribute the information at their next broker meeting or staff meeting. The question is how do folks use those addresses and do they use them? Our entire goal is how can we all, "work smarter and not harder." With technology, why can we not as an industry pull our own standards or systems together in a grassroots fashion. Our scattered methods and dysfunctional organizations do not talk to each other or share information. That hurts all of us. Yes the organizations are great if we want to remain in silos, but the world is getting smaller everyday, which means our organizations are getting smaller and smaller. Our reach needs to be greater and much more efficient.

Comments are what we are looking for here. So please share your feedback. Where are we headed with communicating with one another and what can we do that is FREE or low cost today?

Reminder: If you are on theBrokerList, you can have the list legally. Just send an email to customerservice@thebrokerlist.com and we are happy to forward the data in MS Excel format! You must be on the list. We are getting many requests for the list from those NOT on the list. That is not the intent.
